43.1 What is Om?
Om (ॐ) is called the Pranava, the eternal sound.
It is the vibration of the source field—a frequency that pervades all creation.
In metaphysical terms:
A (अ) – represents the waking state (जाग्रत अवस्था)
U (उ) – represents the dream state (स्वप्न अवस्था)
M (म) – represents the deep sleep state (सुषुप्ति अवस्था)
The silence after Om – the Turiya (चतुर्थ अवस्था) – pure consciousness.

ॐ (Om) को प्रणव कहा गया है – शाश्वत ध्वनि।
यह है स्त्रोत क्षेत्र का कंपन – एक ऐसी आवृत्ति जो सम्पूर्ण सृष्टि में व्याप्त है।
आध्यात्मिक अर्थ में:
अ (A) – जाग्रत अवस्था का प्रतीक
उ (U) – स्वप्न अवस्था का प्रतीक

Shiva is often called Omkar, the form of Om.

शिव को कहा गया है – ओंकार स्वरूप।
ध्यान की गहराई में ॐ शिव की उपस्थिति को प्रकट करता है – देवता के रूप में नहीं, बल्कि आपके भीतर कंपन करते हुए चैतन्य रूप में।
ध्वनि से ही रूप उत्पन्न होता है।
> “ॐ से उत्पन्न हुआ – आकाश, काल, पदार्थ और मन।”
शिव, ॐ के रूप में सृष्टि का आरंभ करते हैं, उसे ध्वनि से संचालित करते हैं, और अंत में मौन में लीन कर देते हैं।

गीता 8.13:
"ॐ इत्येकाक्षरं ब्रह्म..."
